Team Gusto uses award winning Scottish cold pressed rapeseed oil for our flavour infusions, due to the provenance, quality and superior taste. We want to incorporate local ingredients, so sourced oil from a local supplier.
The infusions have been created by introducing ingredients to enhance & flavour the oil, so the added contents are what are creating the colours and intense flavours.
Lemon Oil is the most subtle of the infusions, containing lemon peel, lemon thyme and black peppercorns. The citrus undertones work incredibly well with fish, chicken and seafood.
Both Herb & Lemon Oil contain fresh herbs and are best refrigerated once opened. Keep the lemon thyme submerged in the oil to maximise flavour and to prevent decay.
Herb Oil is rather like a walk in a herb garden on a warm summer day. Stuffed full of herbs, garlic and a touch of chilli for backbone, Herb Oil has a similar, though lighter flavour profile to pesto. Each bottle is blended by hand so that the intense burst of freshness will fill your senses.
Firebreath Oil is a chilli oil containing the infamous Ghost chilli, otherwise known as Naga Bhut Jolokia. The Ghost chilli is cultivated in Assam in India and was once rated as the hottest chilli in the world, but other varieties have since surpassed the 1 million SHU on the Scoville chart (is 400 times hotter than Tabasco).
The oil has been stained red by the dried spices and variety of chillies in each bottle. Like a fine wine, the oil improves with age, as the dried chillies permeate their spiciness’ throughout the rapeseed oil.
